With hundreds of Staff members who work at Lakeside High School, each member has an important role. As in teaching different subjects, helping out students with how they operate in school, or with technical issues.
For example, our Library Assistant/JV Cheer Coach Roshelle Aycock, who is to students as “Ms. A” or “Coach A,” has helped students in many ways. She has been working at Lakeside for 5 years, starting as a para professional. She became the JV Cheer coach in 2024, and later in 2024, Ms.A became the library assistant. But before working at Lakeside, she used to work at the high school’s cluster school, Briarlake Elementary. She started there as a para professional in 2016, then transferred to Lakeside in 2021.
On a regular workday, she assists students if they need a ticket for their Chromebook if it’s not working, if it’s lost, or to assign a new student a computer so they can have a successful school year. She describes her job as “Important.”
Even when it comes to stressful situations, her overall favorite part of working is “Able to solve problems that many have difficulty with.”
Everyone has had one thing that motivates them to get up every day and make sure their life is up to how they want to live their life. “Provide for family” and “Needed to help the flow of the with supporting students and staff.”
Students have opinions about different staff members. For example, 11th grader Niylah Bagley describes Ms. A. as “A helping person who uses her for good causes.
In fact, she’s amazing. She is not using all her time for herself.” It is very clear to students that she is a very helpful staff member.
Others may find her job very easy, but there are difficult challenges when it comes to her part. She says her most challenging part is “Getting kids to check out a book and using library resources. There is a small group of kids who enjoy reading.”
With all of the wonderful assistance she provides, be sure to thank her the next time you visit the media center.
