As Halloween approaches, the Lakeside community demonstrates its school spirit with spooky decorations, good food, and creative costumes. For many students, Halloween is more than just picking out an outfit; it’s a way to feel connected to the lakeside community. Whether it’s pumpkin carving or a costume contest, each club has its own Halloween traditions. Here’s a look at what some clubs are doing for the spooky season.
Trifecta (Black student union, Our sister Keepers, and My brother keepers)
Trifecta holds its own Halloween party every year. Members celebrate with themed snacks and good music. The main event is the pumpkin carving: members are asked to purchase a mini or large pumpkin to paint or carve, showing off their creativity and competing for the best design. Fadela Soura, a leader, claims “I love the Halloween tradition cause it allows you to get to know others in the club.”
DECA
DECA, the marketing club, doesn’t usually hold meetings for Halloween, but they still get into the Halloween spirit. They have a small concession stand set up every day during lunch, and for Halloween, they are adding a spooky touch. Slushies come in colors like orange, treats get Halloween-themed packaging, and everything feels a little more seasonal. Even without a meeting, Deca finds a way to bring Halloween vibes to the school through their concessions.
Psychology Club
The Psychology club, known for its guest speakers and fun mind games, is planning a special Halloween edition of its classic murder mystery. This staple game gets a spooky twist for the season, complete with Halloween-themed candy and discussions about how scary movies and Halloween activities affect the brain. Jacqueline Gordon, a club member, says, “I love Murder Mystery, it’s one of my favorite parts of being in psychology because it shows how a game like this connects with the brain.”
Hope
Hope is taking a more straightforward approach for Halloween this year. During their Halloween meeting, members will connect and participate in fun games. Everyone is welcome to invite a friend, and there will be snacks for everyone to enjoy while mingling. It’s a low-key celebration, but still an excellent way for the club to bring the Halloween spirit to its members.
It can be pumpkin carving, themed snacks, a murder mystery, or just a chill hangout with friends. Lakeside club proves what Halloween means to them: a celebration of creativity and a good time, brought together through community.
