Many people are being wrongly accused of being illegal aliens, strictly from association or assumption. If this continues, it could be a massive problem for people who came here for better job opportunities and to work, schools with large amounts of minority students with children looking to learn, and people who could have come here to escape from an unideal situation.
Why this proves to be a problem; since the ICE raids have started, many students with parents who could be identified or assumed as illegal have stopped coming to school altogether, in fear of one day ICE showing up. A letter was sent to parents within the DeKalb school district about the safety of their children, but this letter is now unavailable.
Increased arrests in metro Atlanta have caused a more widespread increase in school absences. With fewer and fewer kids coming to school, not only does the literacy rate go down, but school funding also decreases with it. Less populated schools get less funding and less help with their education.
With how many kids who can’t get their education peacefully can affect them harshly in the future. The number of kids who live comfortably in the future without a proper education and without some type of degree is extremely low. FOX 5 news claims “Local law enforcement agencies partnering with ICE under 287(g) agreements saw a nearly 10% decline in Hispanic student enrollment within two years as families left these areas.”

Another reason why this could be a problem is the workplace. Not only is this extremely disruptive to the workplace, but taking people away from their places of work where they are earning money earnestly is completely wrong. Not to mention that it hurts the economy the most since minorities make up almost 50% of the job force.
A source claims that on September 4, 2026, people witnessed the largest ICE raid in history. It was at a Hyundai supplier and LG Energy Solution plant in Ellabell, GA. It was a no-warning raid, reportedly taking 475 workers from their jobs midday.
Since the year of 2004, the death rate for ICE detainees has been low and decreasing each year. But as of 2024, after the election, it has now reached its 22-year high. From last October to mid-January of this year, they recorded around 18 deaths. And since then, an additional 10.
In Georgia alone, there have been 4500 ICE arrests between January 20 and July 31, 2025. An aggressive increase in “illegal alien” arrests, with around a 367% increase compared to the same period during the Biden administration.

Not only are the deaths concerning, but also how they are treated. These people who are taken into custody experience poorer health care and are “more likely to present with conditions that deteriorate rapidly without continuity of care,” as claimed by NBC.
The death rate spiking in such a short amount of time is extremely terrifying. This just shows that it is not just about their documentation, but something rooted deeper. So, concluding from this, this affects more than just the people it’s happening to, but also the national community.
