Fun festive games

Christmas parties are a big part of the holiday season, as they provide feelings of connection, belonging, and fun times for all to relax and enjoy the festive season. 

When it’s Christmas time, gift exchanges and Christmas parties fill up the calendar. But through the eating and the gifts and the parties, the question of “What should we do now?” comes after. 

So here are some fun, easy-to-play, holiday games to play with your friends and family. These are fun, festive, ways to spend your time in between festive parties. 

1. Snow Blower

• Items: party blowers, cups, cotton balls.
• Set up: Set up the cups face down in a long row across a table in two rows, with the cotton balls on top of the cups. 
• Game: Give two friends the party blowers and have them compete to blow off all the cotton balls on the cups, and whoever blows all of them off first wins. 

2. Unwrapping presents With Oven Mitts

• Items: oven mitts, and boxes that have been wrapped. ( can be empty boxes, or full)
• Game: Set up a competition to see who can unwrap their present first, while they are wearing oven mitts. This game is fun, and not as easy as it sounds!

3. Candy Cane For A Candy Cane?

• Items: lots and lots of candy canes
• Set up: Set up two piles of candy canes, make sure they are pretty tall and easy to hook. Save 2 extra candy canes for the game. 
• Game: Split the party into two teams, and choose one person to be the game player. Set a timer for as long as you want ( recommended around 1-2 minutes) and have the person be level with the ground. Once the timer starts, the object of the game is to collect as many candy canes as you can. You do this by holding a candy cane in your mouth and trying to hook the candy canes. 

4. Candle Rush

• Items: long candles, paper plates
• Setup: Have 2 (or more) friends holding the candle, and their partner holding the paper plates in their mouth.
• Game: Pair up in groups of two. Have one partner holding the candle and the other trying to blow it out with their paper plate. They will hold their paper plate with their mouth and try to blow out the candle. Whoever succeeds first wins. 

5. Saran Wrap Ball.

• Items: Have some toys, candy bars, money, or anything fun or festive (should be on the smaller side). Lots and lots of Saran Wrap.
• Setup: place your best item in the center and start wrapping the Saram Wrap around it. Repeat until there are a couple of layers in between, and then place your next prize. Continue until there is a decent-sized ball (around beach ball size), with prizes every few layers. 
• Game: everyone sits in a circle and hands the Saram Wrap ball to the first person. Everyone gets 15 seconds to unravel as many layers as they can. They keep all the prizes they unravel. Pass the ball around every time the timer ends. Play until the ball ends. 

     Craft-type activities 

• Classic Gingerbread Compilation

• But gingerbread kits at the store, and team up with how many kits you have. Whoever has the best-looking house will win. Feel free to mix up rules,etc…

• Painting/Decorating Ornaments 

• Go out and buy some blank ornaments, either clear or white, and set up painting materials to be able to paint them. If you want to put stuff on the inside, things like flowers, plants, or string could be cute. 

• Painting Christmas Trees. 
• Buy some canvases from the store and set them up, ready to paint. This could become a fun competition or just something fun to do. Paint your take on a Christmas tree, and make it unique to you.
