With the basketball season starting, players and coaches have strong feelings about their work on the court and how to work with the team to make sure that they have a successful season.
Coach Morton, who is the varsity coach for the Lady Vikings, has described her team as “disciplined, respectful, and hardworking players on and off the court.” Has shown that the way her coaching style has shown that she is what makes the team become stronger, wiser, and bond as a good team who can take criticism and learn new skills to become more recognized and be on a higher skill level. There are hard teams to beat, like the Tri-Cities Bulldogs. When they first played the Vikings, the Bulldogs defeated them, but after a couple of more games, they were close to winning, so Coach Morton thinks “with this group will be excited to play.
A lot of people work very hard outside of school and inside of school to become the athlete they want to be. For example, Joshua Mosley, who started basketball when he was 7 years old, outside of normal practices, goes to the gym and weight room to work on his skills and get his strength up. His strongest skill is “getting to the basket with my speed”. When he uplifts his team, he “pushes people to be their hardest”. Out of all the coaches for the boys’ varsity, he agrees that every coach has pushed him to be his best at practices and games. Every player has a flaw or other skills they feel they need to work on to get better in the future. As for Josh, his improvements are needed for his “3-point shooting”. Players also struggle to keep their sports and school life balanced so they can have a good performance in both. Josh uses the word “Time management” to explain how he balances those two. If a younger player were to play on the Vikings girl or boy, the best thing is “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen, you are responsible for making it happen,” said Joshua.
In conclusion, there are a lot of responsibilities you have to learn and adapt to when you are playing a sport, but you have to be able to take corrective action from people, learn new things, and be able to manage other things you have going on in life, so you won’t slack on anything.
