With the school year finally being over, students get to enjoy hanging out with their friends, spending time with their family members, or even start traveling to all different countries to try new things. This leaves Lakeside empty with the longing of never wanting to return. Right after the month of Mother’s Day ends, the first weeks of June approach, some students are already heading to the store to buy gifts for their fathers while some are already in another state living the times of their lives.
Specifically the best gifts are just what fathers do on a daily basis or just something fun and random. Charlie Hunter (11th) shares that he and his dad love sports. That’s how they always come along and have a father and son bond. Charlie says, “I’m going to Dicks to grab him a baseball hat and a new handglove since his is kind of worn out and torn.” Charlie makes sure to get his dads favorite colors and specific size so that he could always have it when they get ready to play baseball in their backyard. Charlie adds, “As long as it has his favorite team somewhere on his shirt or glove he would be cheering from far far away throwing it up in the air.”
Another student, Ashael Malloy, (12th) plans to get something his dad would use everyday that would help him get through his duties quicker. Asheal says,“I just wanna get him something simple but something that means a lot, like a new hat or a new lawnmower.” Ashaeal makes sure his dad doesn’t have a hard time doing what he loves. Ashael adds, “He has trouble cutting the grass so I plan to head to Home Depot to see if they got lawnmowers that you can sit on.” Ashael loves that he can get his Dad something that would help him cut grass quicker and smoother.
Summer break would always be about building a sand castle by the beach or just staying up late night with your friends….But once in a month, you have the time to appreciate those who pushed us to become better. Even though it’s great to forget everything and chill, why not spend a little time with those who raised us. Simply by going out to a game, having a huge family dinner at an all you can eat buffet, or just letting your dad chill at home, anytime is a time to enjoy summer.
