University of California Los Angeles is filled with excitement as the Lady Bruins bring home a national championship and completing their 37-1 season successfully. The Lady Bruins swept pass the dynasty of a program South Carolina Lady Gamecocks. The final score of the national championship game was 79 to 51, the Lady Bruins comfortably took command of the game and brought home the victory.
The Lady Bruins had a couple of players that consistently showed up and showed out such as Lauren Betts (#51), Charlisse Leger-Walker (#5), KiKi Rice (#1). These players played a huge role in the success of the Lady Bruins. Betts led the team in three categories: points (17.1), rebounds (8.8), block (2.1). Leger-Walker is not far behind leading in two categories: assists (5.6) and steals (1.6). So, though everyone played their roles well, Betts and Leger-Walker were outstanding players.
The Lady Bruins handled business from the tip off. The game was set to be a great game with both teams being the number 1 seed on opposite sides of the bracket. They held the Lady Gamecocks to 23 first half points which is unusual for them. The second half was not to different from the first with the Lady Gamecocks only scoring 28 second half points.
The city of Los Angeles was excited welcoming the Lady Bruins back with their newly earned National Championship. A week later, the Lady Bruins made history with 6 players being drafted. Most players to be drafted from a school in one year for the WNBA. Go Lady Bruins!
