The Georgia Food Festival is a weekend full of intriguing culinary and beverages. It starts on Friday, March 27th at Jim R. Miller Park and goes into the Sunday with different specialties each day. Not only is it a place for you to be social and enjoy yourselves, but the festival is also in support of SafePath Children’s Advocacy Center. The enjoyment at the festival is supposed to translate into support for all in the community.
Let’s start with first day festivities. “Friday Fired Up” is the day that really gets the ball rolling. It brings a lively start to the weekend with bold barbeque cooked live in front of you! It provides a variety of some of the best Southern barbeque including: beef, chicken, pork, seafood, and even some vegetarian dishes. Many go to enjoy the renowned chefs and live music that give it a lovely atmosphere. This event is all inclusive, with a $85 admission ticket and starts at 7:30 pm and goes to 9:30.
Onto Saturday, the universal free day. Now, “Saturday Savor” is more for the parents, so think of this more as a gift for them. With the ticket, it includes a complementary souvenir glass for free ‘sips’ throughout the night. (Samples of the culinary and beverage tastings will be available to the first 100 people in attendance of “Georgia Grown and Celebrity Chef Cooking demo Stages!) Some of Georgia’s best chefs prove their culinary expertise while providing a variety of bites for the guests. A market will also be there, showcasing a plethora of food products, handmade gifts, artwork, etc. This event costs $99 for general admission ($165 for VIP) and goes from 1pm-4pm for general admission (12pm for VIP guests).
Lastly, Sunday is the end of the weekend. “Sunday Funday” provides a kid friendly atmosphere in contrast to the previous night. It has a lovely free kids zone for kids to play at, and craft ‘sips’ for the parents. There is a variety of restaurants, food trucks, farmers, and artisans to choose from and enjoy. Live music will be blasting to put an end to the fun weekend. It starts from 12pm-5pm and has a $25 admission ticket ($139 for VIP).
To say the least, this festival/ food market is a place where you can go to have a fun weekend and not be cooped up in the house the whole time. It has a little something for the whole family and is enjoyable for everyone!
