With the summer holiday quickly coming up and a new semester coming up it is important to make sure that you stay on track with your performance in school so when the new semester comes you already know what to do and you won’t be in such a frantic situation that will cause you to have consequences and won’t help your mental health, especially when you do other jobs inside or outside the school.
For example, Library assistant Ms. Aycock, also known as Ms. A, who is a JV cheer coach for Lakeside, will be working her 2nd job and mostly watching Christmas movies over her Winter break. She has top priorities like taking care of her family and making sure she has everything up to her standard. When things get too much for her, she’ll sit in the car or listen to music just so she can get a moment to herself.
Other staff members find it hard to keep up with these expectations because adults always have another thing on their plate in life to fix or adjust. Similar to Ms. Marcellus, who works down in the discipline office. She has priorities, and her family is in a good position; she is very family-oriented and wants nothing but the best for them. For this break, she is planning to have dinner with her family and find a new hobby for herself.
When she gets overwhelmed, she also listens to meditation music and words of affirmation (positive quotes or expressions of love to help you get through the day). To make sure that her personal life and work life don’t get mixed together, she sets boundaries to separate those two.
There are certain tips or ways so you can be able to adjust to everything, like:
- Sleep at least 8 hours a day
- Eat nutritious food and stay hydrated
- Study for 10-15 minutes with a 5 minute in between
- Don’t try to keep up with where everyone is going
- Get a planner
- Make short-term and long-term goals
- You can talk to a guardian or parent about your future or what you want to happen
It is important to keep up with your social life and personal life so you can always have the best time, grades, and state of mind when it comes to the end of the year.
