People often feel that girls’ sports do not get as much recognition as boys’ sports. It could be because of the strength, the gender in general, or because people don’t feel that girls can do the same activities as boys, because they may be too ‘girly’ or ‘weak’.
This problem started many years ago with the development of agriculture and societies having different roles, as in not being able to vote or work jobs that require more structure than a man would “be able to do”. Men were expected to play a powerful role in the household, like “whatever I say goes.”
Even though laws have changed and women can have more rights and be included in more activities, there are still places that won’t accept a woman for a male-dominated job.
According to Inside NU, the unequal treatment that women get in professional sports and this been going on for years because of history. “After seeing the unequal treatment of male and female athletes in their respective NCAA bubbles, I can’t turn on the TV today and watch the first round of the men’s basketball tournament with that same sense of joy,” says the Inside NU article, describing the feelings of how others feel with the public situation.
There is a comparison between the salaries, and the average women earn 83% of what a man can earn. For example, in the NBA, a man earns $10,776,383, whereas a woman earns $113,295, and in soccer, a man earns $471,279, whereas a woman gets $52,000. As you can see, this isn’t fair earnings because women are doing the same thing as men, so why not just get the same earnings?
Some women can do things that men can’t do and don’t get the same views or a bigger image as a man would.
